uni uni uni uni

I think I have officially gone from "i'm going to be a med student" to "oh Heck! I am a med student!"

The first week isnt even over yet and I am going to bed at 10pm Perth time...and I am stuffed! All these early mornings, very full days and new faces!

My first day was full on, we started uni at 9 - so I left home at 7.50am. Uni finished at 6.30 and by the time I had caught the train to the city and caught the rail replacement bus for my second train (as the line was down) it was 8.15pm! What a first day! It was filled with orientation lectures and meeting person after person. It appears there are quite a few of us, about 110 I think.
Some stats:
40% male, 60% female
40% from interstate
3 people from Adelaide!!
80% health or science background
and only about 40% would be new graduates.

It makes for an interesting and diverse group of people, which I am enjoying getting to know.

I am not overwhelmed with the workload yet, but I do not find myself jumping up and down at the idea of 2 years of PBL (problem Based Learning). And whilst what we have begun to cover is mostly revision for me, I have a feeling that will not be the case in 6 weeks time...consequently that is when we begin our 1/2 a day placement in General Practice!

Other than that Notre Dame (ND) is in the very west end of Freo and it is lovely down here, even in the heat there is a nice sea breeze and a pretty good park at the end of the road which was nice to have lunch in. Perth is a pretty similar city to Adelaide, only with better trains I reckon. The people I am living with are lovely, and It is nice to have a place to come back to everyday, I am on the hunt for a bit of accomodation though, as where I am staying is about an hour away from uni by public transport which is a bit of a hike.

Anyway, I must go - but thats a bit of an update, more info to come :)

love u all my Adelaidian friends.
xx
