This week I have finally felt like I have a routine.
I moved into my new house on Friday last week and knowing
that it is my home for the next 6 months automatically gave me
some sort of relaxed feeling - and it is not like i didnt feel
relaxed before, not at all, I was very comfortable with my
house and felt at home and felt secure here in Perth. It is
a phenomena I cant really explain, other than I feel like my
room is my room and there is one less thing for my brain to
have to think about, and my subconscious to worry about.
Everyday I walk to uni now, which is a 20 minute walk from home,
and only a 5 minute walk to Freo Hospital (which I hope will come
in handy) and a less than 2 minute walk to another house where
6 other first year Med students live. It is lovely and I like the
routine of starting my day with a walk. I know you probably
wont believe me, but I am the first person up in my house!
True, True!!
I am now fully able to have a morning conversation and
to be completely cival - but give me 10pm and I long to be
in my bed! What a turn around from life in Adelaide!
Uni itself still doesnt have much of a routine, every week
is different and certainly everyday is different too. All that is
certain is that PBL (problem Based learning) is Fridays and
Wednesdays, I am at curtain uni on Mondays and Tuesdays
is clinical skills, and yes the quiz, and LO's will not be released
until 5pm on Thursday afternoons, along with the timetable for
the following week (which begin on fridays - odd but true).
Lunch is usally had in the park off of the esplanade sitting on
the grass and is either: left over dinners, salad or tuna. And
not far away from me will be my sunscreen (and I will be in the
shade) and my pink Tupperware drink bottle. About 10 or 15
first years sit together in the park for lunch and I am yet to
work out what the other 100 do...
I have also (and this will shock some of you I know)
begun to exercise!
Yep totally true!
I started doing nicknamed "bootcamp" when I was living
with Tyson, Clare and Leah - and it is 3 rounds of 8 stations
of strength and toning exercises. Whilst it is not that fun, I
feel so good after doing it and have noticed that I have what could
be defined as "guns" growing on my arm!
Believe it or not...
This week however, the routine is being thrown into a spin,
as tomorrow morning, early, early, early I am off to
Merredin in the wheatbelt of WA. It is about 4 hours east by bus,
with 30 other med100 students. We are there for 4 days to
discover what life is like for people in the wheatbelt, and I think
with the hope that we will discover the country isnt an evil place
and some of us may even consider working there in the future.
I am very excited! I really think I will enjoy this week and I already
want to work in the country!
Anyhoo that is a lot from me tonight.
Love you all muchly
xx
