so here is a snap shot
from most recent to least
My parents just left today after 10 days in Broome, 2 of which I spent in Derby (Paediatric workshop - all in all pretty good fun and lots of learning!) and 7 of which I spent working (you do the math!) It was nice to see them, and catch up on their worlds, whilst showing them around mine. Like every time we meet we struggled with family roles, but the overall outcome was good, it was lovely to show them my world, and for them to see me really enjoying Broome and all that it has to offer. We saw some stunning parts of North Western WA whilst they were here, like the horizontal falls, cape leveque and other areas near and not so near to Broome.
Farrah and Mon came to visit for Farrah's Birthday! We went to the Beach International Polo event - and witnessed a car run into the field! It was wonderful to have them up and even I enjoyed Oasis' hip hop night - who would have thought?!
workie workie workie workie.
Hospital - ED, Ward, Theatre and Maternity
Restaurant - managing two nights a week
EXAMS - gosh they now feel like a while ago but according to my diary they were only three weeks ago! All of the students from the Pilbara and the Kimberley on RCS came to Broome to do our formative exams (hear that, formative!) I had just spent the week prior to this driving down the coast, so I had put in no extra study or preparation to these exams and surprisingly, I did alright. On the whole I passed and I did better than I had expected of myself! Which is always a good thing. It was lovely to have met all of the other Northern students and to have socialised with them!
For me, one of the most enjoyable aspects of the road-trip were the conversations. I only knew one of the girls on the trip, but by the end I felt like I knew the other two pretty well. We spent hours driving and couldn't really avoid each other (as we slept in the van, ate by the van, drove in the van, and did over 2600km in the van in 7 days!)
we cried
we laughed
we shared
we fought
we sang
we shook a little egg shaker
we learnt
we (un)learnt
we recieved a lot of hospitality, Keith and Cas & Farrah, Ross and Marie we are very grateful for your company, your showers and your friendship!
It was just such a great time of being ourselves, un showered and all - and It was wonderful - to me the beautiful landscapes through which we past and the towns we visited were simply a HUGE bonus to the adventure.
Just before Easter a few Notre Dame Students came up to Broome to do their social justice project. It was nice to show some friends around and see them experience what now feels like my town!
Quite some many weeks before that, as many of you know I dove head first into a relationship with a lovely man that I had met up here in Broome. I was excited and enjoyed the process of exploring what my life would look like. During the process I was reminded of a lot about myself and what I want in life, and I discovered that we weren't quite the right fit for each other.
I want to thank all of you who prayed for me during this, and who supported me - know that all is well and I am at a place of great peace and single lady life is all it has cracked up to be, its pretty good - especially in Broome!!
thats a brief synopsis of me. Photos definitely to follow!
