I just read over some of my blogs from this time last year and felt the waves of emotions that I was experiencing then wash over me, and wash away (maybe with Perth's storm water tonight)!
For the first time I am so glad that I have been bothered to keep a blog.
I have, many times, felt a little silly for airing my thoughts on such a public forum.
Especially when I realised that my thoughts were not only being read by my close friends and family in Adelaide, but also by those who share day to day life with me! But that embarrassment has well and truly passed- and I have continued to quite honestly air my thoughts to you all in cyber world - btw: who ever you are reading this, thank you and I hope you are well :)
One of the entries I just finished reading was about my first experience of tears here in Perth last year. My first realisations that Perth was now my home - I likened the change to walking between trapezes.
It's odd how that feels so far from my current reality. As I was driving home last night from church, and tonight from a meeting (that was cancelled because of the chaotic weather here) I was overcome by the feeling of normalcy - that it feels so normal to be here in Perth, that it indeed feels like home.
I like that feeling.
Its wonderful to know that there are people here that I consider to be family, people who (were I not here) that I would miss and would want to see. [much the way I feel about Adelaide! I do miss you Adelaide, I miss your heartbeats and I am thankful to those of you who continue to call/skype and share your heartbeat with me over this distance]. I enjoy being able to drive somewhere and have a fair idea of where I am going - but I also like adventuring new places, with new people!
One of the things we can all appreciate is that: life is always life.
Wherever we are, and whoever we are surrounded by life continues. It continues to have it's ups and downs, its highlights and its challenges.
Life always manages to pose us questions, and if you are anything like me sometimes you are better at answering these questions and rising to meet these challenges than you are at other times.
Life always manages to stretch me and refine my character - whether my choices are good or bad for me (of course that value judgement is passed on my own doing, and from myself most of the time).
But I guess there are other times in life where others pass that judgement too - and I hope that I am doing my best to do good and make decisions that indeed point to who I am, and who I want to be.
I never feel like the opportunities for me to make choices that define me ease off. Over the past 6 months or so I have felt that a lot of the decisions I have made have all had some form of impact on who I am, who I view myself to be and who others view me to be. Like I said before, not all of my decisions have indeed moved me closer to who I am and want to be. However I feel like I am getting there at the moment. I feel good about life (although I constantly question, but my mind is something I do not feel I can have complete control over!)
I have a strong sense of who I am and I am attempting to walk in that, to act in light of who I truly am, to share myself with others whilst trying to listen to my heartbeat and follow....
